We are proud of ourselves. We are proud of each other. We are proud of our community.
We are very excited for another fantastic year of learning at Oakfield and we cannot wait to welcome you all back on Wednesday 2nd September!
Dragonfly class teacher is Miss Wright supported by Mrs Hart.
Giraffe class teacher is Mrs Chhita supported by Miss Young.
Below is a sneak peek of what your classrooms look like! We have worked hard over the Summer to make sure that they follow the latest guidance to keep your children safe in the classroom:
|Tuesday||P.E - (please have all labelled P.E kits in school on these days)|
|Wednesday||Homework due in|
|Friday||Homework given out|
Reading - Please make sure reading records and books are at school everyday. We will endeavour to hear your child read as much as possible, but they will be given a certain day in the week where they will be heard at least once a week and have their books changed.
Homework - this will consist of a Literacy task and a Maths task based on what we have been learning in class.
We encourage children to have a go at their homework; why not use this time to discuss what they have been doing in school this week. We thank you in advance for all you support!
Now that you are in Year 1, you will be begin on your Concentric Curriculum learning journey!
Each half term we will have up to 3 different 'Mini-Missions' that will cover a wide range of curriculum subjects.
Below is a copy of our Yearly Overview if you would like to find out what our Mini-Missions will be and an idea of the key skills and objectives covered in class.
For further information on the objectives and expectations for Year 1 across all curriculum subjects, see the link below:
Our first mini-mission will be based on the story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers.
Share this story over the Summer if you would like to! We will be learning all about the different word classes such as nouns and verbs, as well as learning how to retell the story and write it in our own words.
We will be working on our Art skills by learning about how to collage and use line to draw effectively, as well as using our Geography skills by learning about hot and cold places in the world.
Below are a list of links that you might find useful to support your child's learning. These will be updated throughout the year.
