At Oakfield Primary Academy, we believe that it is important for all children to learn about different religions so that they can understand the world around them as well as the community that we live in. Pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of the world religions, including:
We embrace the fact that we live in a multi-cultural society and celebrate and respect the many religions which are followed by many of our families here at Oakfield Primary Academy. Our Religious Education curriculum is designed to give all pupils the knowledge and cultural capital they need to prepare them for their next stage of education.
Through Religious Education, pupils develop their knowledge of the world faiths and their understanding and awareness of the beliefs, values and traditions of other individuals, societies, communities and cultures. Pupils also have the opportunity to develop their own philosophical voice during their time at Oakfield Primary, as well as key skills such as thinking, researching, evaluating, reflecting and empathising. We encourage our pupils to ask questions about the world around them and to reflect on their own thoughts, beliefs, values and experiences.
Our RE curriculum is enhanced with visits from religious leaders in the local community as well as assembly themes to put a spotlight on different festivals taking place.
